Spoiler-safe. Nothing is grouped until you open it. Start with a single nudge per group, then the category names, then the full solution only if you need it.

Background & guide

What is NYT Connections?

Connections is a free daily word game from The New York Times. Every day you get sixteen words and have to sort them into four hidden groups of four. The trick is the overlap — several words look like they belong together until a fourth group forces you to rethink. Each group has a colour by difficulty: yellow is the easiest, then green, then blue, and purple is usually the trickiest with wordplay or hidden links.

How to use today's hints

Stuck partway through? Open a single nudge for the group you're missing — often that's enough to place the words yourself. Then reveal the four category names, and only unlock the full groups when you want to confirm. Purple is where the wordplay hides, so save it for last. Nothing is grouped until you tap it, so you take exactly as much help as you need.

A quick tip

When two words seem to fit the same group, look for a fourth that only works in one of them — the odd one out usually reveals which group is real. Every past puzzle is collected in the answer archive, grouped by year.

FAQ
What are today's Connections groups?
Each Connections puzzle splits sixteen words into four groups. Use the reveals to see a nudge per group, then the four category names, then the full solution only when you want it.
How do the colours work?
Connections ranks the four groups by difficulty: yellow is the easiest, then green, then blue, and purple is usually the trickiest with wordplay or hidden links.
Why does the puzzle change at midnight?
Connections rolls over at midnight in your own time zone, not a fixed global time, so the puzzle updates based on where you are.
